My name is Rob Daniel, and I am a children’s author, journalist and columnist living in Albany, Western Australia.
However I concentrate my time and most of my energy in giving children and their teachers ways in which to make education powerful and a lot of fun, by presenting workshops that encompass creative writing, advanced memory techniques and self-esteem. All together. These usually go for one – one and a half hours.
These are for young people from years 1 – 12 and for groups up to 200 young people at a time.
In each of these sessions children will:
• Be creative and work with me without fear of failure, of looking silly or ‘getting it wrong.’
• Learn several brilliant warm-up techniques to get their brain ‘zithering’ with ideas
• Choose an inanimate object and go on a bizarre adventure
• Discover facts about their brains that will astound them
• Find out what travels faster than the speed of light, and how they can all use it – every day
• Go on a creative journey through their imagination
• Write a story beyond what they believed possible
• Permanently memorise a list of ten items numerically after being shown it once, and how to do this with everything they need to learn
• Using another technique, permanently memorise a minimum of 30 items in order and reverse, and how to repeat this with anything they need to remember
• Memorise ten capital cities and learn how to permanently memorise the rest in only a few hours
• Learn how to use these techniques in everything they wish to remember
• Look at what they are passionate about, and what it will take to recreate this passion in the life they have ahead of them
After each presentation teachers will have access to a file I will leave at the school with follow up ideas and techniques, resources and details on how to contact me via the Internet.
I run a creative online studio at: www.chocmint.com that encourages young writers and illustrators from around the world, and creates the possibility for these young people to see their work published.
