New, Newer and Coming Soon

August 31, 2006

I had a call this week, getting straight to the point.

It was from a children's writer called Ania who is keen to
join in and begin creating stories in this format.

She also has a few friends who love writing for children
but, like most people, have full-time jobs and find it very
hard to find the time to create.

With traditional publisher the wait is always months to
find out whether a story has been accepted. Sometimes years
until it actually gets published, if accepted.

And often it has nothing to do whether the story is good or
not, as you can discover by looking along the children's
shelf in any bookshop.

It has more to do with the right subject at the right time,
whether the publisher is taking on anymore authors (which
most them are not) and what the children's book market is
doing at the moment.

These are always changing, so the chances of getting a
children's book published the traditional method are very
low, even if your story is one of the exceptional ones.

Children, who come up with brilliant ideas for stories in
their imagination every day, have even less chance of being
published that way.

Chocmint.com is changing all that. We are finding wonderful
writers every week, extraordinary artists who have a real
passion for their work and produce the kind of
illustrations that have children glued to the images.

Of course we enjoy getting published the traditional way as
well, but this way you get to read new books, as soon as
they are published, from both established and new talent
from all over the world. And this is the ONLY place you
will find them.

Print them out yourself if you like, or do what we have
chosen to do and save a few rainforests by having these
books available online instead.

They look like books, sound like books, but they don't
smell like books. For the sake of saving a lot of trees, we
feel two out of three isn't bad.

We're having our first local chocmint meeting next week,
with whoever would like to join in. If you live a long way
from here, and most people do, then send us a message you'd
like us to hear and discuss. Ideas, thoughts, who you are
and what you're about. Just send them in to:
chocmintsales(at)optusnet.com.au

It will be very informal, in a cosy cafe or pub somewhere.
It may go for a long time!

Have a brilliant weekend Rob
